Nigerian-born 19-year-old youngster, Ademola Lookman, had a day in the sun yesterday when he scored the last goal in Everton’s 4-0 annihilation of title-chasing Manchester City at the Goodison Park yesterday.

It was Lookman’s debut for the Toffees, whom he joined from Charlton Athletic this month. It took him just five minutes to register his name in Everton’s scorers’ sheet after coming into the game in the 90th minute.

Everton took the lead just before half time through Romelu Lukaku’s 11th goal of the season. Manchester City had a mountain to climb two minutes after the restart when Mirallas dispatched his effort after he was set up by Ross Barkley.

It became worse for the visitors on 79 minutes when Davies scored his first goal in Everton colours, he started a move before finishing it off beautifully. Lookman put the icing on the cake in added time to hand Pep Guardiola his worst defeat since arriving in England in the summer.

Super Eagles’ star, Kelechi Iheanacho, who was introduced in the 62nd minute, had little or no service to put his name on the scorers’ sheet. At the Old Trafford, Zlatan Ibrahimovic rescued Manchester United after Paul Pogba looked to have handed Liverpool all three points.

The Swede headed home with six minutes remaining to cancel out James Milner’s first-half opener. Pogba’s confused effort to clear a corner with his arm gifted Milner a penalty that he calmly converted.

Manchester United’s record signing also poked wide from 12 yards on a day to forget for the £86million man. But Ibrahimovic came up with the equaliser late on as United finally breached a spirited Reds defence.

United threw men forward after conceding but struggled to scare a Liverpool back line marshalled up by the inspired Simon Mignolet. Mignolet twice denied United in the first half – first playing away Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s free kick and then matching up to Henrikh Mkhitaryan one-on-one.

Anthony Martial wasted a golden opportunity to level things after the break when trying to flick a low cross through his legs. At the other end David De Gea blocked Roberto Firmino on a rare foray forward for Liverpool, who afforded United more and more possession as the game wore on.

Substitute Wayne Rooney was lucky not to be sent off for a rash challenge on former England team-mate James Milner. But the game changed when Marouane Fellaini entered the field and went straight up front alongside Ibrahimovic.

It was Fellaini who could have won it moments before the Swede’s finish – the former heading off the post before his strike partner converted Antonio Valencia’s subsequent cross. The draw does little to help either side in their bid for the Premier League title, with United ending the day four points behind fourth-place Liverpool. (The Guardian)
