The leader of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Anambra State and former governorship candidate of the party in the 2013 election, Chief Godwin Ezeemo, has described politicians running under the canopy of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to vie for the governorship seat of the state as deceivers who will end up being disgraced.

He made the statement in Umunze on Sunday while addressing journalists on the occasion of the presentation of a modern toilet facility built and donated to the parishioners of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Umunze.

Ezeemo described his party, PPA as a strong political party with the capacity to produce the governor of the state next year.

He said that Anambra people are now politically sensitised and can differentiate between deceivers and those with genuine course despite party affiliation.

“Anambra people are now very politically sensitive. You cannot come here and deceive the people any longer for the simple reason that you belong to a so called mega party.

The people have been adequately sensitised, and they will vote for the right person and not party,” he stated.

Earlier in his address to the people, the PPA leader urged them to be alert and not be deceived by those who will bring loads of money to sway their support advising them to take the money but vote for the right candidate next year.

He gave assurances for free, improved, qualitative education for all children when he becomes the governor of the state, adding that he has the capability to make the greater population of the people of the state happy.

On why he has remained in PPA, despite the trend of switching of platforms by politicians for better opportunity, Ezeemo said the ideologies of the party remain the best.

He however, described those changing political platforms as unstable politicians who will grab power at all cost for selfish interest.

On the modern toilet he built and donated to the church, he said: “I was here last year for the harvest and bazaar of this church, and at some point, I had need to use their toilet but I was told they did not have one.

“So, I started wondering to myself why a church as big as this one will not have a toilet facility. Do the parishioners have to go to the bush to ease themselves when they have need for it? So, I promised them this facility, and today I am delivering it to them.”

Though he is an Anglican by faith, the Publisher of Orient dailies cum politician noted that church is one, and that the essence of worshiping as a Christian is to achieve the same aim.

Responding on behalf of the parish, the Parish Priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Basil Ezekeli hailed Ezeemo for the gesture noting that the gesture was done despite the fact that he was neither from the area nor a member of the Catholic Church.
