A federal High Court in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, has ruled that factional All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Chairman, Chief Maxi Okwu, should submit the name of the candidate that emerged during his faction’s primaries to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the November 16 Anambra governorship ballot.

According to the learned judge, “Owing to the urgent nature of the case, the first respondent Maxi Okwu should submit his candidate, Dr. Obidigbo, to INEC.”

News Express recalls that Dr Chike Obidigbo on September 2 emerged as the APGA governorship candidate during the primaries held in Awka, the Anambra State capital, by Maxi Okwu-led faction of APGA.

Chief Willie Obiano had on August 26 emerged as the flagbearer of the Chief Victor Umeh faction of the party but Maxi Okwu, who was voted APGA National Chairman during the party’s National Congress held in Awaka in April, is challenging Umeh’s continued stay in office long after his tenure is supposed to have expired.
