The Kano State Government has referred petitions and counter-petitions against Mallam Shu?aibu Abubakar, popularly known as Triumph, to the Shura Committee for review.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) forwarded the complaints to the committee to commence deliberations, on Friday.

According to the committee?s resolution, both petitioners and the respondent will be invited to present their cases. Petitioners will be required to elaborate on their allegations, while Mallam Abubakar will be given the opportunity to defend himself before further deliberations are made in line with Islamic jurisprudence.

Secretary of the committee, Shehu Wada Sagagi, who briefed journalists after the sitting, said the process was designed to ensure fairness.

?After listening to both sides, the committee will deliberate and then advise the state government accordingly,? he explained.

He confirmed that some of the petitioners had threatened to pursue legal action independently of the Shura Committee?s proceedings but urged them to allow the process to run its course.

?We call on the people to maintain peace and harmony. Kano remains one of the most peaceful states in the Northwest, and it is our collective duty to preserve that peace for the economic and social progress of the state,? he said.

?This is a committee of well-versed scholars in Islamic jurisprudence. We will advise the government accordingly, in sha Allah,? Sagagi added.

Daily Trust reports that the allegations against Mallam Abubakar include claims that he made derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (SAW), questioned aspects of his birth, and suggested his parents were in hellfire.

Other accusations include irreverent comments and comparisons viewed as offensive by petitioners.

The committee, made up of respected Islamic scholars, commended the state government for referring the matter for resolution through an Islamic framework rather than allowing it to escalate into public unrest. (Weekend Trust)
