The Lagos State Government has arrested a woman, identified as Mrs. Kehinde Raji, for allegedly producing contaminated ?Elubo Isu? by mixing spoilt yam flour with harmful colouring agents.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the arrest followed credible intelligence received from the Chairman of the Elubo Sellers Association, who reported food adulteration practices within the market.

The report indicated that some traders were endangering public health by selling the contaminated flour to unsuspecting consumers.

Following the tip-off, operatives of the state?s environmental enforcement unit, known as KAI, conducted a raid in the market and apprehended the suspect during the illegal activity.

The statement added that several consumers have already suffered health complications after consuming the adulterated product.

It assured that the suspect will be prosecuted in accordance with relevant laws guiding food safety and consumer protection in Lagos State.

The report indicated that some unscrupulous traders were mixing harmful coloring agents with spoiled yam flour to produce contaminated ?Elubo Isu? for unsuspecting consumers.

?Our KAI enforcement team immediately conducted a raid, leading to the arrest of one Mrs. Kehinde Raji who was caught engaging in this criminal activity. We commend the market leadership for bringing this critical public health issue to our attention.
