The Staff Union of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has refuted claims that it submitted a petition against the Commission?s leadership, clarifying that its communication was merely an internal reminder to management regarding staff welfare matters.

This clarification comes in response to recent media reports suggesting a dispute between the union and NAHCON?s top management.

In a statement released by NAHCON?s Assistant Director of Information and Publications, Fatima Sanda Usara, the Commission expressed concern over what it described as misrepresentations in the media.

The statement affirmed that NAHCON, as a public institution, operates within regulatory frameworks and civil service guidelines in all administrative decisions.

?The NAHCON Staff Union did not submit a petition against the Commission?s leadership. A petition means reporting the leadership to an external agency. Instead, the Union issued an internal reminder to NAHCON Management on certain internal matters,? the statement read.

The Commission further acknowledged the role of staff unions in advocating for employee welfare, stating that it is currently addressing the concerns raised regarding staff elevation and welfare. It reassured staff members that their interests remain a priority.

Additionally, NAHCON dismissed allegations of nepotism within its ranks, particularly refuting claims that Professor Abdullahi Saleh appointed his son as a Personal Assistant. The Commission also addressed reports suggesting the continued employment of retirees, attributing such assertions to misinformation or a misunderstanding of its operational structure.

NAHCON urged the media to ensure accuracy in reporting and to engage in constructive dialogue rather than sensationalism. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth and well-organized Hajj for Nigerian pilgrims and welcomed meaningful contributions that align with this mission.

As the controversy surrounding the reports subsides, NAHCON remains open to addressing any legitimate concerns through appropriate channels rather than through public misinformation.
