The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Anambra State Branch has appealed to warring communities of Aguleri-Out and Umuoji Umuoba Anam, both in Anambra East Local Government Area of the state to eschew bitterness and embrace peaceful coexistence, love, unity, tolerance and mutual respect.

The two communities have been embroiled in a communal fishpond and land dispute crisis that claimed some lives and properties for some time.

CLO made the remarks while condemning communal clashes between the two communities in a press statement made available to journalists in Awka.

The statement signed by Comrades Vincent Ezekwueme and Chidi Mbah Chairman and Secretary respectfully described violence as a worst form of irresponsibility and lawlessness.

The statement reads In part: ?It is pertinent to note that violence retards development, peace, progress and hinders accelerated socioeconomic development and political stability.

?Elders of the warring communities should call their youths to order and elucidate the causes and consequences of war and destruction with the aim of averting, discouraging and denouncing it.?

While extoling the peaceful initiative efforts of Senator Dr Tony Nwoye and Hon. Peter Anaekwe, the group said it will convene a meeting to proffer amicable and peaceful resolution of the avoidable crisis.

Anambra CLO prayed God to grant peaceful and eternal repose of souls of those who lost their lives, quick recovery for those injured and for God to give bereaved and loved ones the fortitude and grace to bear the irreplaceable and irreparable loss.

It added: "May they accept our sincere heartfelt condolences and assurances of our prayers at this mourning and sorrowful moment.?
