Reactions have trailed the news circulating that the Israelis accused Iran of working to destabilise the West African sub-region, especially Nigeria.

Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman was speaking in Abuja during the presentation of a documentary to commemorate the One year anniversary of the October 7th, 2023 massacre of Israelis by Hamas.

Micheal Freeman has however also expressed concern over the festering insecurity in West Africa especially in Nigeria, in which he alleged that Iran has a hand in the country?s insecurity.

This assertion has sparked a variety of reactions on social media in Nigeria.

On the platform X, one user, @Jonehmk, advised against bringing Israel and Iran?s hostilities into Nigeria?s geopolitical landscape, saying, ?Mr. Ambassador please, Nigeria as the giant of Africa would not believe such an allegation you made about the Republic of Iran against our country. Don?t take the fight between your country and Iran to create an international imbroglio between Abuja and Tehran, please.?

Another netizen, @MohWorldent posted ?Lmao. They want to push every country into a conflict with Nigeria?

However, another netizen @SavannaConnect who described the news as a serious accusation and asked the Nigerian government to investigate these claims thoroughly and ensure that Nigeria?s sovereignty is protected.

?That?s a serious accusation. If true, it?s concerning because any interference could potentially impact Nigeria?s stability and security. It would be important for the Nigerian government to investigate these claims thoroughly and ensure that Nigeria?s sovereignty is protected.?

Others reactions read, @HEATHEN_STONER ?Read the comments and see Nigerians believing Israeli propaganda without evidence, I dare say Isreal is part of those destabilising Nigeria and they did it during the civil war by supporting Nigerian government.

@demobanty posted ?It?s the usual suspects again, nobody believes anything from anyone connected with Israel.?

@PabloAlons3139 posted ?Abeg make una commot Nigeria for waty una da talk oo.?

@xDavidunknownx ?Wait destabilize Nigeria in what way?

They should put us up to speed let?s know what?s going on exactly?

?Why are they trying to drag us into this? We?re not in involved o , allow us to fight our own war in our own country o. A new insurgent group just got license to commence business, let?s focus on that please.? (Sunday Tribune)
