The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has again proven its stranglehold on Anambra with a landslide victory at the Saturday, September 28, 2024 local government election in the state.

The Cock symbol party won all chairmanship and councilorship positions across the 21 local government areas.

Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Genevieve Osakwe, announced the results at the ANSIEC office in Awka late Sunday.

Osakwe said that APGA secured all 21 chairmanship seats, and also won the councilorship positions in each local government area, as confirmed at the ward level.

She described the election as the fairest, saying that the commission meticulously collated and analyzed the results to ensure accuracy.

While announcing the winners of the Council election, the ANSIEC boss said that APGA candidates scored the highest votes, hence are declared the winners based on the highest votes cast.

Osakwe praised the citizens of Anambra State for their strong turnout and expressed gratitude to security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the process.

She said: ?This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councilorship election held on September 28, 2024. The commission carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.?

?We ensured all scores and parties were announced at the polling units yesterday. We are here today to affirm the results as recorded. The election held at all polling units across Anambra State on September 28 was free, fair, and credible.?

Meanwhile, no other party representative was present at the ANSIEC office when the results were called except APGA officials and party agents.

However, no opposition candidates or political party representatives attended the ANSIEC office during the announcement or have issued any statement in disagreement with the election results.
