A Federal High Court, Lagos has adjourned the dispute between Lagos Country Club members for report of settlement and ordered all parties to maintain status quo pending when the parties resolve the dispute as they proposed.

Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa adjourned the case in the suit marked FHC/L/CS/321/24 between the Registered Trustees of the Lagos Country Club and Mr. Seyi Adewunmi and other members of the Management Council to June 25 for report of settlement.

At the resumption of hearing on Thursday, Dr Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) appeared for the plaintiffs

While Mr. Dele Adesina (SAN) appeared for the defendants except the third and 15^th Defendants.

Mr G.K. AdelusI appeared for the third defendant, while Babatunde Fasanu (SAN) appeared for himself as the 15^th Defendant.

Adesina informed the court that he had gone through the papers filed in the matter and he was of the opinion that the case and sister cases could be resolved amicably between the parties.

He emphasised that the parties were members of the same family, noting that even “mouth and tongue’ do quarrel and settle.

“I do not see any reason parties cannot sit down with the guidance of their counsel to settle this case. The Club is 75 years old,” he said.

Adesina (SAN) told the Court that his learned silk and brother, Dr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) was in agreement with the application to resolve the dispute between the parties.

In the circumstance, I seek your Lordship to give us a date for the parties and counsel to meet and explore an amicable settlement. He said that he had conferred with counsel to parties and they have agreed for an adjournment. (The Guardian: Text, Excluding Headline)
