Fast and dependable mobile internet has become indispensable in our day-to-day lives since we live in a technologically driven society where connectivity is key.

Mobile internet that is quick and stable has become essential for everything from streaming HD films to doing business on the road to simply keeping in touch with loved ones.

The most recent mobile internet speeds in 190 different countries are measured by the SpeedtestGlobal Index. We’ve looked at which nations have the fastest internet connections and which cell companies are doing the best in each one using the most recent data available, which was collected in February 2024.

Qatar

At 313.30 Mbps, the median download speed on mobile internet in Qatar is now the fastest in the world. With a 19 ms delay, upload rates are 27.53 Mbps (megabits per second).

Both 4G and 5G networks are in operation in Qatar; Ooredoo, a mobile provider, was the first to introduce 5G in the nation. In Qatar, Ooredoo and Vodafone are the sole mobile service providers. With more than 121 million users, Ooredoo is one of the biggest mobile telecommunications firms in the world and has its headquarters in Doha. The company has operations in ten nations, mostly in Southeast Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East.

United Arab Emirates

With median download speeds of 296.00 Mbps, upload speeds of 26.25 Mbps, and latency of 19 ms, the UAE has the second-fastest mobile internet in the world.

Two major network providers operate in the United Arab Emirates: Etisalat, also known as e&, is based in Abu Dhabi, and du is based in Dubai. According to Opensignal, Etisalat consistently offers the quickest speeds. Having been in business since 1976, it is the most established network provider in the UAE. In terms of subscribers, it ranks as the 18th largest network operator globally. Since 2007, du, the other significant network provider in the UAE, has been in business. In 2019, it became the first telecom provider in the UAE to provide 5G service.

Kuwait

Presently, Kuwait boasts the third-fastest mobile internet in the world, with median download of 288.64 and upload speeds 23.73 Mbps, respectively, with a latency of 18 ms.

There are several prominent mobile operators in Kuwait. The three main players are Ooredoo Kuwait, Zain, and STC. In the most recent Opensignal mobile experience study, Ooredoo is ranked as the most reliable, Zain as the most coverage-rich, and stc as the most 5G-available.

With its 1983 launch, Zain is the telecom company with the longest history. With 52 million active users, it has operations in seven Middle Eastern countries and is headquartered in Kuwait.

Iceland

With median download speeds of 158.32 Mbps, upload rates of 20.22 Mbps, and latency of 17 ms, Iceland has the fourth-fastest mobile internet speeds in the world.

With a 34.5% market share, Siminn is the largest of Iceland’s three primary mobile operators. Additionally, Vodafone and Nova hold substantial market shares in the nation. Reaching 99% of Iceland’s population, Siminn provides some of the greatest coverage available nationwide.

South Korea

In the globe, South Korea has the fifth-fastest mobile speeds. With upload rates of 17.68 Mbps and a latency of 30 ms, the median download speed is 156.23 Mbps.

KT, SKT, and LGT are the three mobile operators in South Korea. The network used in South Korea is based on code division multiple access (CDMA) rather than global system for mobile phones (GSM). This indicates that in order to send and receive data, each device is equipped with a unique identification. The most widely used method, GSM, authenticates each device via a SIM card. Although GSM is favored for its ease of use when traveling and data roaming, CDMA is commended for its superior coverage and quality. Since 1987, GSM has been the accepted standard across Europe.

Denmark

In terms of mobile internet speeds, Denmark ranks sixth globally. With an upload speed of 19.27 Mbps and a latency of 19 ms, Denmark’s median download speeds are 145.75 Mbps.

Mobile providers in Denmark are numerous. Telia has the best download speed experience, 3 has the fastest 5G upload speed, TDC has the best coverage, Telenor has the most reliable quality, and Opensignal ranks them all thus. With its headquarters located in Denmark’s capital, TDC is the biggest telecommunications provider in the nation.

China

With a latency of 30 ms and median download of 143.73 Mbps and upload speeds of 27.51 Mbps, respectively, China boasts the seventh-fastest mobile internet speeds in the world.

China Telecom, Unicom, and Mobile are the three major mobile service providers in China. China Mobile, with 920 million users, is the biggest operator globally, according to ChinaESim. Due to intense competition caused by the large number of mobile providers in the Netherlands, offers are typically competitive and intended to draw in new business. Counting 33 million users in the Netherlands and other European nations, KPN is arguably the largest mobile carrier in the country.

United States

United States offers the world’s ninth-fastest internet speeds with a download of 129.26 Mbps and upload speeds of 10.24 Mpbs respectively, with a latency of 29 ms.
