Mr. Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on Monday, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, alleged that security personnel at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS), where he is currently being detained, did not allow him to sign his legal documents empowering his lawyers to continue with his matter in court.

The younger Kanu, who made the allegation, also told newsmen that the full number of family members who went to visit him in DSS facilities in Abuja were not allowed access to see him.

He disclosed that only two out of the three family members authorised by the court to visit him were allowed to see him, while the third family member was turned back.

Emmanuel Kanu recalled that for two consecutive times now, the IPOB leader was totally denied access to his visitors including lawyers and family members and expressed worry over the actions of the security operatives who he accused of violating court orders.

The IPOB’s younger brother was visibly worried over the deteriorating health of their son, saying that the family members who went to visit him at the DSS facilities were not impressed with the way he looks.

Emmanuel Kanu therefore demanded explanations from DSS on why Nnamdi Kanu was being shielded from his visitors.

“They should tell the world what they are hiding that makes them to keep him away from his visitors contrary to court orders”, he said.

The younger Kanu used the opportunity to again call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to comply with court orders, wondering why the service should violate the order by a competent court of jurisdiction.

He asked Tinubu to immediately and unconditionally release Kanu without further delay. (Daily Independent)
