Nigerian Social media space is bustling with activities, as top Nigerian celebrities drawn from music, movies and football sectors lock horns in an online engagement contest hosted by the Nigerian Social Media Awards.

The grand finale is slated for December 11, 2021 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Celebrities competing in the ‘Naija Game of Thrones’ category are: 2Baba, Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Olamide, Don Jazzy and Genevieve Nnaji, while Phyno, Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho, King Rudy, Yemi Alade, Funke Akindele, Timaya and Mr P. are competing in the Naija X-Factor category.

A confirmation of the degree of engagement the celebrities have with their online fans, the contests involve the fans visiting: www.nigeriansocialmediaawards.com to vote for them to boost the celeb’s opportunity to win N20m grand prize that will be paid to the celebrity to support his/her Corporate Social Responsibility project.

The project manager, Nigeria Social Media Awards, Francis Amirize, in a statement made available to Maggie’s Blog said the social media, which a few years ago started as a fun spot, has today metamorphosed into an opinion-shaping part of existence, which can no longer be ignored in the marketing of brands, projects and personalities, which the contests will unveil at the long run.

According to him, “We are kick-starting the NAIJAX-FACTOR social media game intro with the phenomenal three: Music, Movies and Football.

“The Great 8 in this NAIJA X men and women line up are Phyno F, Osimeh, Kelechi Iheanacho, KingRudy, Yemi Alade, Funke Akindele, Timaya and the Zoom X man, Mr P!

“Now, the question is: Who’s got the X to the highest factor? The Nigerian Social Media Award is a concept whose time is here and you will believe when you look at how the events on social media are shaping perceptions in the world today.

“The world spends millions of man hours on social media every day learning, entertaining themselves or others and conversing. In all these, impressions are being created and perceptions are being formed.

“So we are looking at the brands, individuals, enterprises, art forms and events that are making these impacts on a yearly basis. Everyone is on the social media today, so it is appropriate to recognise and celebrate things going on there.

“Consisting mainly of celebrities by virtue of the nature of their profession, these personalities will test their popularity amongst social media users who would vote to decide who the ultimate winners will be.

“It was designed to be a keenly contested programme where the ultimate winner will get the ultimate cash prize of N20m and be crowned the Ultimate Brand Ambassador. Only social media users can decide who this celebrity will be with their votes.

“The project will finally leave the virtual realm to reality at a live performance that will hold at Eko Hotel on December 11, 2021, where top West African entertainers will feature. Finally, there is a self-eviction protocol which happens as the contests proceed.”
