Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State have been congratulating Valentine Ozigbo for his victory during Saturday’s governorship primary election held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka.

Ozigbo polled 62 votes to defeat his closest rival, Dr Obiora Okonkwo, who scored 58 votes, and Senator Uche Ekwunife with 44 votes.

The election, which was concluded in the night, was conducted by the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mr. Philip Shaibu.

Reacting to the development, governorship candidate of PDP in Anambra State during the 2017 election, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, said that there is more work left to be done to capture Agu-Awka Government House and reunite the party ahead of the November 6 poll.

He said: “Hearty congratulations to Mr. Valentine Chineto Ozigbo on clinching the PDP governorship ticket last night June 26. It was a well fought, and well deserved effort.

“There’s more work left to be done to capture Government House, Awka, and reunite our great party ahead of the November 6 elections. We must also all rally to the cause and collectively work hard to reconcile our party.

“As a PDP stakeholder, I offer my full and unalloyed support to Val personally and his campaign ahead and in every effort to rebuild our party. Now that the primaries are over, I call on all the PDP aspirants to come out and fully support Mr. Ozigbo so that we can collectively achieve victory on 6 November 2021. We must also all rally to the cause and collectively work hard to reconcile our party.”

In her congratulatory message to Ozigbo, one of the defeated aspirants, Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe, said that both people and God have spoken, adding that the main journey as the PDP family to the Government House Awka has started in earnest.

“On behalf of myself and the LCO Team Trinity Campaign Organization, I congratulate my friend and brother Valentine Chineto Ozigbo on his emergence as the flag bearer of our great party for the November 6 Anambra State gubernatorial election.

“The people have spoken, God has spoken. I enjoin our entire PDP family to put hands together to ensure that this becomes a reality come November 6, 2021. It is long overdue. Together we can, and together we will!” Onyemelukwe stated.
