The outcome of the just concluded Aba Federal Constituency bye-election is a loud statement by Ndi Aba, and indeed good spirited Abians, (including the Old Bende and non-indigenes), that you cannot continue to impuniously take people for a ride. It is a practical detestation of an endemic arrogance, putrid selfishness/self-centeredness and total insensitivity of a man with his family, who have deviously and dubiously hijacked the leadership of our party in our state, while arrogating to himself the sole right of determining the power of life and death of members therein. We warned but they failed to heed our genuine worries. Rather we were further alienated from the party we went through hell to entrench in the State. They forgot that you can only fool some of the people some of the time, but can’t fool all the people all the time.

This crass insensitivity of foisting your younger brother (his acknowledged very nice Personality notwithstanding), as Sole Aspirant/Candidate of our party to the exclusion and outcries of genuine, sincere and formative members of the party (which you are just a late joiner), in a bye election holding in a different constituency from yours, is tantamount to riding roughshod over your superiors and senior stakeholders, while daring them to do their worse.

The outcome of the election result as announced by INEC is therefore an obvious confirmation of the determination of the People of Aba and Abia State to take their destiny in their hands and further resist the attempt to subjugate and harangue them endlessly.

It is therefore left for our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to do a post-mortem, yes an introspection, to determine whether one man’s interest with those of his nuclear family will be the focal point and determination of our very existence and progress as a political party. This loss is not necessarily a win for the PDP in a superiority contest, but a victory, as it were, for the people and their resolve to resist totally, the three vices of IMPUNITY, IMPOSITION and INSENSITIVITY across the broad spectrum of the society.

Let me therefore congratulate the winner Chimaobi Ebisike, his crew and voters across Party line who said a loud NO to Imposition and Impunity.

It is my fervent prayer that few lessons must have been learnt here and there.
