The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is mapping out strategies to establish a hajj training institute in Nigeria.

This was revealed during a recent advisory visit paid by NAHCON to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in Kaduna.

NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, said their visit to NBTE was to seek assitance to facilitate the establishment of a hajj training institute.

“We intend to establish an institution to formalise the training for those involved in Hajj management as well as potential pilgrims themselves,” he said.

Alhaji Zikrullah explained that they have submitted the application and will follow the process until they are able to establish the institute.

According to him, Hajj is a multi-billion dollar industry and, as such, it is required to have people who have all-round knowledge on what it is all about.

“We also want to use the institute as a form of creating employment for those who want to be in the industry and be sure there is no room for those who have no reason to be there,” he said.

The NAHCON Chairman said that the Commission will ensure that anybody who must be a member of the Hajj family must be qualified and certified in terms of running any activity associated with the industry.

He thanked the management of NBTE for their cooperation and level of confidence instilled in them, saying that in no distance future, they would help them realise their dream.

In his response, the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Dr. Masa’udu Kazaure, said the moves by NAHCON would be a giant stride after the project had been completed and set into operations.

He assured them of NBTE’s maximum guidance and cooperation towards achieving their goal and setting a standard which would go a long way in uplifting the institute’s glory for the benefit of all if accomplished.
