One out of the 12 traditional rulers of different communities in Anambra State suspended by the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has asked for the governor’s pardon.

The traditional ruler, Igwe MacAnthony Okonkwo of Alor in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state, in company of some other traditional rulers were earlier in the week led by notable Anambra-born businessman, Prince Authur Eze, to meet with Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari. Alor is the home town of incumbent Minster of Labur and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige.

The monarch had in a televised interview aired on Friday by the state-owned Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) regretted his actions and failure to inform Governor Obiano, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, before embarking on the trip with others to Abuja.

While restating his total loyalty and unalloyed support to the Obiano administration, Igwe Okonkwo said: “The Governor has achieved a lot in the area of securing the lives and property of Ndi Anambra, as well as development in other sectors.

“I appeal to the Amnambra State Traditional Rulers Council under the Chairmanship of Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe to tamper justice with mercy so as to maintain the peace, unity and cordial relationship that currently exist in the state.”

Igwe Okonkwo hailed Obiano and Ezeh, saying that as prominent sons of Anambra, they have done a lot for the state.

He also suggested that steps be taken for amicable resolution of the issue which led to the suspension of the Igweship certificates of the 12 traditional rulers for a period of one year.
