The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Sen. Bola Tinubu, has expressed sadness over the passing of a former member of the party’s National Working Committee, Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir.

Tinubu, in a statement by his Media Aide, Mr Tunde Rahman, in Lagos on Monday, condoled with the family, friends and political associates of the party stalwart, who once served as Minister of Sports and Youth Development.

He described the late Abdulkadir, who served as National Vice-Chairman, North-West, as a friend and associate, who contributed to the merger arrangement that led to the creation of APC as well as the progress and development of the party.

“The late Abdulkadir played a prominent role in the creation and sustenance of the party. He was also a grassroots politician.

“He was a prominent legal luminary, who served his state, Sokoto, Nigeria and the legal profession to the best of his ability.

“I commiserate with members of his immediate and extended family, particularly his wife and children, who have lost their father and patriarch,” Tinubu said.

The former Lagos governor extended his condolences to Abdulkadir’s political and professional associates, particularly members of the Nigerian Bar Association, saying that they had lost a worthy compatriot.

He also condoled with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the APC leader in the state and a former governor of the state, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko, over the demise of the politician, who was also one of the prominent leaders in the state.

Tinubu also prayed Allah to comfort Abdulkadir’s family, adding: “I also beseech Him to accept the soul of our friend and brother, and admit him to Aljannah Firdaus.” (NAN)

Similarly, Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has commiserated with the leadership of APC and the family of Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir.

The Governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode, in Ado-Ekiti, described the news of Alhaji Abdulkadir’s death as devastating considering the fact he did not show any sign of illness during their last meeting.

Dr. Fayemi, who is also the Chairman of Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), said Alhaji Abdilkadir was a patriotic and hardworking public servant and politician who served both the country and the party meritoriously at different times as a Minister of Sports and Youth Development; Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of Sokoto State University; and until recently National Vice Chairman (North West) of the ruling party, before he breathed his last.

He said Alhaji Abdulkadir’s death was a big blow to the ruling party, which is currently in the process of repositioning.

Governor Fayemi urged the family of the late politician to be comforted by the good name Alhaji Abdulkadir earned for himself in politics and public service, even as he prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest.
