Will COREN provide place of training for each engineering student

When people are not relevant, they create more laws, the reason for SIWES is to enhance practical experience of the Engineers. The lapses in this regard can't be remedied by more laws. The industry has decayed the institutions are too theoretical and you want want prodce sound Engineers. This is self deception, a nation's development is systemic.

Congratulations to COREN. Its obvious you aspire to become medical engineers. After ensuring the programme is five years (instead of four), you now add another compulsory for these kids? COREN please get innovative and stop trying to narrow engineering to four associations Haa!!!!

The idea is awesome, but universities must open their workshops to public as teaching workshop where they solve real problems and earn good money to put students on salary and roaster them on shifts

That's too much ,you adding one year o to make it seven , after spending five years on the course . That's an act of wickedness.

As Honouring Engineer as a successful thar has a good record of conduct in National board for Technical Education [NBTE] and industrial Training Fund[ITF], such as Sea Training institute [STI] and modern Regulator's Convention.

This is a very good development provided it will not be politicised or commercialised. The problem with the Nigeria system is not the absence of good policies like the one being proposed by COREN but proper implementation. In any country where there's a high level of corruption, no policy works! Have you ever asked why there is a high level of food shortage in Nigeria when we have so many agricultural universities and research research centres?

This is a very good development because an average engineering graduates in Nigeria lacks basic knowledge and skills to be gainfully employed. The industrial attachment program has lost its objective because the students find it very difficult to get places to be attached and get relevant experience. Again, what is the arrangement to ensure that industries are available to train the students? Let COREN be more realistic and find a way to make it more appealing and interesting to attract members. See the solar or renewable energy system, there are lot of well knowledgeable persons running the business who have never been to higher institutions. COREN should find a way to identify those with skills and have capacity to train others . This will help to ensure they are recognised and the industry better regulated.

Dear Prof Abubakar, Thanks for the initiative of reintroducing a year intensive training before the NYSC. The NYSC program is of no benefit if the young engineering graduates are not posted to where they can train and research for the betterment of the organisation and the country at large. In my candid opinion, I believe if the organisation deem if fit, every engineering graduate should be checked and supervised during the NYSC period. If that is done there would be a tremendous change in the engineering sector. I hope this advise will be taken into consideration. Regards.
