Transcorp started as a quoted company many years ago, with the shares sold at N7.50 and owned by thousands of shareholders. Down the line, apparently Heirs Holdings has taken over the company such that the original shareholders are now holding the short end of the stick. Its shares now sell below one naira, while Heirs Holdings worth keeps soaring. One is increasingly finding it difficult to draw a line between Transcorp Plc as a company belonging to Nigerians and Heirs Holdings owned by an individual. Year on year, we read or hear of investments iof Transcorp in Blue Chip ventures, ranging from hotels to electricity generation and oil and gas, without the declaration of dividends in most years. And the few times in a decade dividends were declaraed, the amount has been so paltry. Rather Transcorp shares have consistently nose-dived and lost so much value, such that it is almost worthless now. It's value is about 60k. Those of us who sourced loans to buy shares from the Initial offer have been ruined and .left in the cold while Heirs Holdings has been growing.

With Dr Yinka's depth of field in the background, we confidently engaged maintenance managers, helping them to risk our local production for their imported specialy lubes. After our days in Lenoil, I remained in touch with him, drawing inspiration and advice when necessay. He never lacked a wise word for any situation. I understand he moved to Canada. I am pained that I didn't have the opportunity to say goodbye to a good man. May his fantastic soul rest in peace.
