Anambra State has recorded 17 new cases of Coronavirus.
This was announced on Monday night by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
The announcement has created anxiety among residents of the state that have largely flouted the compulsory mask wearing and social distancing order put in place by the state government.
Recall that the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, had announced compulsory wearing of face masks in the state as a way to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.
He said that defaulters will pay a fine of N10,000.
He also announced the approved number of passengers commercial bus drivers were allowed to carry, including the shuttle and tricycle (KEKE Napep) drivers.
With this new figure, the state now has a total of 46 cases of COVID-19 with two deaths.
According to NNDC, Nigeria has recorded 663 new cases of the deadly virus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 13,464 with Lagos leading the scale while Nasarawa, Kwara, Ekiti and Osun states, recorded one case each.
