President Goodluck Jonathan today visited Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, three months after the Nigerian military re-captured the town from Boko Haram terrorists.

The President arrived the Yola International Airport accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, all the other service chiefs and the Inspector General of Police. The entourage later traveled to Mubi by helicopter.

In Mubi, Jonathan met with the Emir, HRH Isa Ahmadu, and sympathised with the people over the loss of their loved ones and property as a result of the activities of the insurgents.

The President also visited Vimtim, the hometown of the Chief of Defence Staff.

A military source told Channels Television that the President also traveled to Baga Town in neighbouring Borno State. Baga was one of the towns overran by Boko Haram insurgents, killing hundreds of people and displacing thousands more

Jonathan’s visit is coming days after the Minister for Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna, visited towns within the area that were captured by the insurgents.

Mubi is the second largest town in Adamawa and among those recently recaptured from Boko Haram by the military.
