It was a moment of wailing and tears as sympathisers thronged the home of Mr. Benjamin Nwankwor in Eziama Village, Amanuke in Anambra State, to condole with him on the murder of his son, Uchenna Nwankwor.

The 25-year-old deceased was said to have been hacked to death by a middle-aged man from Ebonyi State following an argument that subsequently led to a brawl.

It was gathered that the suspect took to his heels after hacking the deceased down and is yet to be found.

When News Express correspondent visited the area, sympathisers were seen at the compound of the deceased consoling the immediate family.

Narrating the incident, father of the deceased, Benjamin Nwankwor, said: “My son had an argument with someone, which led to a fight at about 6pm of the fateful day.

“The boy used axe to hit my son on the head and he fell down. He ran away and left my son in the pool of his own blood.

“My son was rushed to a nearby chemist store before we later took him to the hospital where he died late in the evening. When I got there, I saw a big hole on my son’s head.”

A leader in the area, Chief Charles Obi, urged youths in the area not to take laws into their hands adding that the incident was unfortunate.

In his reaction, the state police public relations officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, said the incident was yet to be officially reported to the police.
