Police arrests 58-year-old man for sodomy with money ritual intent

Police operatives attached to Nnewi Division have arrested one Josephat Unachukwu, aged 58-year-old, an indigene of Edoji Uruagu, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The suspect was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 20-year-old man for the purpose if money ritual.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident in a statement made available to journalists in Awka, said the case was reported to the police when the victim started exhibiting a strange ailment.

According to him, the suspect, on arrest confessed to the act, blaming it on demons.

The statement partly read: “On the 8/4/2020, at about 1:00pm, following a tip off, Police operatives attached to Nnewi Division arrested one Josephat Unachukwu, aged 58-year-old, from Edoji Uruagu in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“Suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge against the order of nature with 20 years old man to prepare for charm allegedly given to him by a Native doctor for money ritual.

Mohammed said the Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang, has ordered for immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation in order to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
