Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), has mourned the sudden death of two of its students, rescheduling its first semester university-wide GST and ENT CBT examinations for 2019/2020 academic session.

In a statement in Akure on Sunday by the Acting Registrar, Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa, said that the university management received with rude shock the loss of two of its students to death in the course of the week.

Akinfemiwa disclosed that a 200 Level student of the Department of Educational Management, Temitope Patience Ayedun, died on admission at the University Health Centre.

She said that the medical personnel tried their best to manage her until she was referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where she was intensively managed before she died on Thursday, March 5, 2020.

Also, she stated that the news of the death of Mr. Olakunle Matthew Olayinka, a 300-Level student of the Department of Biochemistry, following wounds from gunshot by unidentified gunmen, was received on Friday, March 6, 2020.

The statement said: “The university management, under the leadership of the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga E. Ige, commiserates with the families of the deceased, the entire students and the university community on these sad events.

“Management prays that the Lord console the families and the entire university community.

“While still mourning the painful loss of those students, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ige, on behalf of the university Senate, directed that the first semester university-wide GST and ENT CBT examinations be put off indefinitely.

“All students are enjoined to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without panic as management, in conjunction with the security agencies, are on top of the situation.” (The Guardian)
