The All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State on Friday commenced a three-day fasting and prayer in Yenagoa ahead of the handover of the reins of government on February 14.

The prayer and fasting programme would end on Sunday.

In a statement, the Chairman of the APC Inauguration Committee, Mr Samuel Ogbuku, said it was part of activities for the official inauguration of the state governor-elect, Mr David Lyon and his deputy, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.

The outgoing Governor Seriake Dickson would hand over the baton to Lyon after completing his eight years of two tenures in office.

Ogbuku said the party was seeking the face of God to ensure a successful swearing in ceremony and also commit the incoming administration into the hands of God.

He said the fasting and prayer would be rounded off with a church service at the St. Peter’s Anglican Deanery, Yenagoa, on Sunday.

He called on the people of the state to participate actively in the fasting from 6am to 6pm daily. (Daily Independent)
