Two policemen and civilians, on Monday afternoon, were feared dead at Nkwo Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Eyewitness revealed that the two police officers were killed and later hauled into their patrol vehicle where they were set ablaze allegedly by irate mob believed to be warring cult groups.

DAILY INDEPENDENT learnt that the killing of the two policemen was in retaliation over alleged police shooting at the home of IPOB lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofo few days ago.

During the alleged police shooting, two civilians were killed by stray bullets.

Reacting over the incident, the monarch of Orifite, Igwe (Dr) Dan Udorji described the incident as sad, uncanny and unjustified saying that rioting and killing were not the proper thing to do in the circumstance and all persons in the area to remain peaceful and law abiding.

The PPRO Anambra Police Command, Mr. Haruna Mohammed said that his office is yet to establish contact with a view to get details of the incident. (Independent)
