NYSC DG warns corps members against religious extremism, unwarranted travels

The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, has called on corps members to shun religious extremism and embrace tolerance for promotion of peace in the society.

Speaking during a church service held at the All Saints Chaplaincy, located at the permanent orientation camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu in Awka South Local Government Area, the Director General said that despite being a Moslem, he is married to a Catholic.

“We should learn to live in harmony with one another irrespective of our religious differences.

“Imbibe the attitude of religious tolerance and shun all forms of criminality in your host states,” he said.

The Director-General who is in the state on an inspection tour of facilities at the permanent site, warned corpers to desist from fraud, internet scams and other vices capable of negating the teachings of their faith.

He urged them to avoid unwarranted travels especially at night saying that longer journeys should be broken to avoid dangerous, nocturnal movements.

Speaking earlier during the homily, the NACC Anambra Chaplain, Rev Fr Clement Muozoba, hailed the Director General for his giant strides since assumption of office.

The DG who came in company of the Area Coordinator, Alh Ahmed Wada Ikaka; and NYSC Anambra Coordinator, Chief Kehinde Aremu-cole, inspected the kitchen area, hostels and Camp Clinic.
