Former Minister of Information and Culture, Prince Tony Momoh, has finally released his long-awaited book.

Entitled Echoes from the Past, the book is a compilation of the discourses the erudite journalist-turned lawyer and politician has had at different fora on different subjects with different groups. “One thing they have in common is that the forum is Nigeria, the people, Nigerians, and the subject matter their welfare and security, which is why government is there, but which seem to have problems with handling,” says 73-year-old Prince Momoh, who is currently national chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). “The material is located in a time slot that is now the past. So, time has become the witness to the pointers then to now, just two years before Nigeria clocks 100 years as integrated space,” he adds.

Echoes from the Past has 19 chapters, with an introduction, a preface and what the one-time Managing Director of Daily Times of Nigeria describes as “an exciting epilogue which reports the actors of the 90s to the future to be judged.”

Commenting on Nigeria’s future, the CPC chieftain refuses to share the pessimism that is fast becoming the order of the day.

“I believe that Nigeria does not just have a future, that it has a mission which we must all work together to fulfill,” he says.

Echoes from the Past is available at Prince Momoh’s offices in Lagos and Abuja but is expected to be available at some other outlets with time.
