Hajj: Mina now upgraded as a modern city to receive 2 million pilgrims — Saudi Government

Mina is now a modern city ready to receive over 1.8 million pilgrims for the Hajj, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has said. It disclosed that 350,000 fully air conditioned tents have been provided for pilgrims in Mina.

Spokesperson of the Ministry, Mr. Hatin Gabi, assured at a press conference on Thursday in Makkah that all the tents are very hygienic and provided with cold water.

“Mina is now a modern city ready to receive over 1.8 million pilgrims,” he said.

He said the ministry has also mobilised 70,000 employees and 3,000 to serve Hujjas in Mina, Arafat, Muzdhalifa, Haram, Jamarat and to strategic locations for a hitch-free hajj exercise.

“The over 1.8 million pilgrims got their visa through a fully automated electronic visa system. This is a major breakthrough for the year,” he added.

The joint press conference was also addressed by the ministry of health, security, interior and Saudi Civil Defence, to disclose level of preparedness to serve pilgrims for hitch free hajj exercise.
