The First Citizen of Brent, His Worshipful, Mayor Ernest Ezeajughi, will be holding his Civic Service today, Tuesday, July 23, 2019, to mark the beginning of his municipal year.

He said he wants to use his position to “unite communities” in the region as he welcomed his counterparts from across London to a civic service.

Cllr Ernest Ezeajughi, who is serving for this municipal year, has invited several other London mayors to Brent Civic Centre to showcase his work in the borough as well as his charities.

He is fundraising for Sickle Cell Society London, a local charity based in the borough, and also working collaboratively with the wife of Anambra State Governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) on delivering on her CAFE project on Sickle Cell in South-East Nigeria.

Mayor Ezeajughi has also nominated Jason Roberts Foundation which delivers Mayors ambition to reduce the Anti Knife and Gun crime.

“I am looking forward to welcoming my guests in anticipation of my Mayoral year. I’m sure it will be a fun and enjoyable evening and an opportunity to raise awareness of my chosen charities,” he said in a programme document sighted by News Express.

Expected guests include the faith leaders in and outside the borough, among them Bishop John Sherrington.

“I look forward to continuing to work closely with all my colleagues and charities to capitalise on the many strengths, attributes and talents they have,” Mayor Ezeajughi said.

“In a time of uncertainty for many in Brent, I hope to use the office of mayor to unite and build a very strong cohesion in our communities,” he added.
