The body of a five-year-old boy who was kidnapped and killed in Kano State has been recovered by the police under the Operation Puff Adder.
According to the police, he was kidnapped from his school with the help of his uncle, one Ibrahim Ahmed.
While recovering the body buried in an uncompleted building, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, told journalists that the suspects had demanded a ransom of 50 million naira from the child’s parents and subsequently, he was drugged.
The father of the boy who shared his plight with journalists, said he did not believe that they would actually kill his son since the family was already negotiating with the kidnappers.
“They first called me and asked for 50 million naira ransom, after negotiations they came down to 20 million, then 10 million, but I guess after they realised the boy was dead they later demanded N200,000 which I agreed to give them,” he said.
The victim’s uncle who confessed to having committed the crime said it was his first operation.
“My friends told me that we can make lots of money from kidnapping so I decided to kidnap my nephew. Although I could not enter the house where we kept the boy because he would have recognised me, I gave my friend the number of his father who has been communicating with him”. (Channels TV)
