Family of Insurance Director murdered in South Africa demands justice

The family of insurance director, late Mrs. Uju Ndubuisi-Chukwu, who was killed in South African hotel, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the investigation of her death.

They are calling on President Buhari to empower the Nigeria Consulate in South Africa to intensify efforts by putting pressure on South African Police to conclude the investigation, which it started following her death.

She was killed on June 13 at the country’s luxurious hotel, Emperor Palace Hotel.

Mrs. Ndubuisi-Chukwu was the Deputy Director-General of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN).

She was in Johannesburg, South Africa as a delegate of a conference, African Insurance Organisation (AIO) held from June 9-12.

She was found dead in her hotel room in the morning of June 13th, the day she was meant to travel back to Nigeria.

A report issued by the Port Health Services, South Africa stated that she died of “unnatural cause consistent with strangulation.”

Late Mrs. Ndubuisi-Chukwu’s elder brother, Dr. Chiedu Ndubuisi, in a telephone conversation with The Nation said the family is demanding justice for her after controversies surrounding her death. (The Nation)
