More facts emerged yesterday about a minister, Pastor Michael Arowosaiye, who committed suicide in Abuja on Tuesday. Arowosaiye was said to have killed himself because his wedding was allegedly cancelled over infidelity. It was initially reported that Arowosaiye took his life because he had accommodation challenges. But the new twist to the story is that the man hanged himself because his wedding was called off, as a result of his nude picture that another lady he was dating reportedly posted on the internet.
A lady identified simply as Nene, who claimed to know the deceased, said Arowosaiye committed suicide because his wedding which was slated for April 27, was called off due to his sexual immorality in the church he attend. Nene, who commented on Arowosaiye’s facebook wall, said the deceased didn’t leave a suicide note.
The lady added that Arowosaiye didn’t die because of financial or rent issues and no church abandoned him because of house rent. She said: “The pastor of the church he was attending before he left was nice to him and other members of the church. To put the issue in the right perspective, two years ago Arowosaiye left the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) for Shepherd’s House at Apo, Abuja, where he was a worship leader. “He was suspended two months to his wedding because of alleged sexual relationship with another girl who leaked his nude pictures. And as a result of that he was frustrated because of the embarrassment the nude pictures caused him. “The house where he was living until his death was given to him for free by the Shepherd’s House church where he worshipped. The issue that the Redeemed Church abandoned him was a lie. Nobody left him.”
Arowosaiye reportedly killed himself at his residence at Sunnyvale Estate. When people entered his house, they found out that he had hanged himself with his belt. He was said to have recently ministered at a Youth Praise event in the church. On April 13, the deceased was among ministers who participated at ‘Revival in our City’, Mpape youth prayer fest, at Nana field, GRA, Mpape. Arowosaiye posted on March 6: “Please youths of today, let’s be really prayerful. The devil is roaring like a lion, seeking whom to devour! I invite you to this programme please make it a date.”
