Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the three senatorial districts of Niger State have called on Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello to continue with his people-oriented projects and policies; and to also lobby for more federal appointments for the state.
Speaking when they paid congratulatory visits to the Governor in his office in Minna on Monday, the stakeholders from each of the zones were unanimous on their call for continuity of people-oriented projects and policies as well as lobbying for more federal appointments.
In his remarks, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, who led the APC stakeholders from the Niger South Senatorial District, said there is need for the people of the state to gain more appointments at the national level.
While congratulating the Governor on what they described as “a victory well deserved”, APC stakeholders from Niger South Senatorial District (Zone A) pleaded with the Governor to ensure that the state benefits from appointments at the national level, using its leverage as the first in terms of performance in the North-Central as well as sixth at the national level.
He stated that the victory of the party in the just concluded polls is as a result of the collective efforts of all stakeholders to sustain the achievements of the current administration.
According to him, the members of the APC in the Zone will support Governor Sani-Bello in bringing onboard capable hands to drive the affairs of Niger State for the progress and welfare of Nigerlites.
Similarly, APC stakeholders from Niger East Senatorial District (Zone B) who were led by Alhaji Yakubu Abubakar and Alhaji Tinau Mohammed also appealed to Governor Sani-Bello to consider the people of the zone when it comes to appointments at the national and state levels.
The leader of the delegation also called on the Governor to embark on new projects that will be of benefits to the people of the area.
In the same vein, Alhaji Saleh Bashir and Barrister Lawal Yusuf, of Niger North Senatorial District (Zone C) also called on the Governor to ensure that he appoints people from the area.
The leaders then applauded the leadership style of Governor Sani-Bello for his unrelenting efforts towards ensuring the welfare of the people of the state through the execution of people oriented projects and policies.
They then assured him of their unwavering support during his tenure in office.
Responding, Governor Sani-Bello assured the people that his administration will adopt the principle of equity, justice and fairness in the execution of projects and distribution of political appointments within the three geo-political zones of the state.
He also stated that his “administration in the next for years will focus on leaving a system that will put the welfare of Nigerlites at heart in order to allow them feel the impact of the government.”
The Governor said that he would ensure he leaves a workable system after his tenure in office so as to enable citizens have a sense of belonging, adding that “such system can only be possible if we ensure continuity in governance.”
Said Governor Sani-Bello: “I want to leave a system that is workable and a system that will continue to take care of Nigerlites especially those that have nobody and cannot fend for themselves and that is why it is very important that we build in the next four years a kind of system that will take care of people’s welfare as we move the state forward.”
