Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has lost his Unit 20 Polling Unit, Ward 11, Ibadan South West Local Government to the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Seyi Makinde.
Ajimobi’s party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), won 112 of the votes cast while PDP polled 145.
The governor, who spoke at after voting, told journalists that the elections were peaceful in his polling unit.
He, however, said the turnout was low compared to what was obtained during the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections, during which he lost his bid to go to the Senate.
“The reason for the low turnout could be as a result of discouragement, fatigue, disappoint or other reasons,” he said.
He expressed hope that his party’s candidate, Adebayo Adelabu, would be victorious at the count of the polls.
