3 injured as party supporters clash in Zamfara

Three people were injured after some party supporters clashed in Rumfar Asibiti polling unit in Birnin Magaji local government area of Zamfara state, witnesses told Daily Trust.

The clash erupted when politicians from different parties went there to cast their votes.

The politicians including the incumbent member representing Birnin Magaji/ Kaura Namoda federal constituency and also a member of the APC faction known as Group – 8, Alhaji Aminu Sani Jaji and the candidate of PDP vying for the same position Alhaji Sani Umar Dangaladima arrived at the polling station to cast their votes.

“Some of the top politicians in the local government are casting their votes in that polling station and there is always a heavy concentration of their supporters there and clash can’t be ruled out in that atmosphere,” a resident identified as Jamilu said.

He however said normalcy was restored after security operatives arrived at the place to control the situation.
