Star musician, Omawumi and the commercial motorcycle popularly known as Okada, are like butter on bread. They are inseparable.
As one of the top celebrities Nigeria has produced, one would have expected the Ambrose Ali University, Edo State, law graduate to be riding with wonders-on-wheels or at the least, the recently introduced cab system known as Uber.
But that is not so with this Itsekiri-born entertainer who came to limelight in 2007 through the TV reality show, West African Idols.
Perhaps, beating the vexatious Lagos traffic jam is the underlying factor behind her undying love for the two-legged machine, perhaps not.
"I still take Okada and Keke Marwa (commercial tricycle) if the occasion demands that I do so. That is how simple I am.
"Even though people may feel that as a celebrity I should not be doing that, I feel being a star mustn't stop me from living a normal life.
"I have never been one to be pressured by the fad. I do not easily conform to certain expectations. I live my life based on what I am convinced is the right thing to do at every point in time."
Well, you've heard her very clearly, so next time an Okada 'flies' past you, take a close look at the person sitting right behind and holding tight the Okada man, it might just be your music idol, Omawumi.
