The Nigerian Police Force has arrested a human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, who on Wednesday morning led groups of protesters to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

It was learnt that the special squad of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris carried out the arrest in a bid to abort the protest tagged #PoliceNotPolitician.

Contained in the cardboard protesters used in expressing their grouse were inscriptions:

“Police are not politicians”.

“2019 election is in danger”.

“Police is not a department of APC”.

“The Romance between Police and APC is Unholy”.

The protesters also called for autopsy on the Offa robbery prime suspect, Michael Adikwu, asking: “Who killed Offa robbery prime suspect?”

Another demand: “Presidency should not use Police for political games.”

The group called for the sack of IGP Ibrahim Idris, referring to how Vice President Yemi Osinbajo ordered the sack of the former Acting Director of Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura, during the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
