The swearing-in ceremony of Former Minister of Solid Minerals and Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi as the Governor of Ekiti State is currently ongoing, according to reports from Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

This effectively ends the era of erstwhile governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose of the the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kayode Fayemi won the governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He defeated the Deputy Governor of the state and candidate of PDP Professor Kolapo Olusola, and over 30 others in a keenly contested election.

He was victorious in 11 out of the 16 local government areas of the state, polling 197,459 votes, and edging out his closest rival Olusola who got 178,121 votes by 19,338 votes.
