Nigeria’s Chief Coach Stephen Keshi late last night released his 23-man list of the Super Eagles to prosecute the Brazil 2014 World Cup kicking off June 12.
According to a statement from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the list comprises experienced names such as Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide, Joseph Yobo and Elderson Echiejile who were part of the squad to South Africa 2010 made the final list and will look to make amends for their group stage exit in their last outing.
Top scorer of the 29th Africa Cup of Nations, Emmanuel Emenike, Godfrey Oboabona, John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses are also in the team and expected to make their World Cup debut when the championship kicks off.
Africa Cup of Nations hero Sunday Mba is out with CHAN hero Ejike Uzoenyi, Joel Obi, Obinna Nsofor and Nnamdi Oduamadi – all of whom had been tipped by analysts to make the team. Nosa Igiebor and Daniel Akpeyi complete the list of players.
There are three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders and seven strikers.
The reigning African champions will be making their fifth appearance at world football’s major showpiece and have been drawn in the same group with Argentina, Iran and Bosnia.
