Nigerian spiritualist Olumba Olumba Obu renounced his claim to godship, according to a church spokesman.

Olumba, Founder of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) church, is famous for claiming to be God and Sole Spiritual Head of the universe.

He however renounced the claim, according to Solomon Minta, one of the Brotherhood officials doing international media work for the church, which has its global headquarters in Calabar, South-South Nigeria.

Minta, of the BCS USA Media Office, Dallas Texas, made the revelation while responding to the explosive article published Nov. 21 by News Express in which Pastor Lovina Amangala Iburene of the Truth Ministry/The True Lovers of Christ World Charity Ministry, Lagos, lamented her “wasted years in Olumba Olumba Obu’s Evil Brotherhood.” Pastor Iburene had in the article declared that Olumba is a mere mortal whose death way back in 2003 is being covered up by his followers to deceive people.

But reacting to Iburene’s claims, Minta, a native of Ghana living in the United States and an alumnus of Howard University, wrote: “Pastor Lovina cannot testify that the teaching of Olumba Olumba Obu (OOO) is not of Christ but of Satan. Pastor Lovina had read from the (I presume), I AM NOT GOD BUT LEADER OLUMBA OLUMBA OBU. Let me quote from the book for the world to know: you people go out there and say Olumba Olumba Obu is, how can a human being be God, that’s why nobody is coming to Brotherhood (end of quote).”

The BCS chieftain (see photo) however refused to be drawn into an argument over Olumba’s alleged death, saying: “I would like Pastor Lovina to dwell on the teachings of Olumba Olumba Obu of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (not Brotherhood by the way) instead of dwelling on what has happened within the family whether he is dead or alive.”
