A staffer with Nigeria Breweries Plc, Mr. Etim Edet, and six members of his family were over the weekend found dead in their house in the Bagido area of Ijede, Ikorodu Lagos. They are suspected to have died days earlier as their bodies were already decomposing as at the time they were found in their isolated building.

The late Etim was reportedly last seen at his place of work on April 25. When he didn’t show up and could not be reached up till last Friday, some of his colleagues went to check on him at home, only to be assaulted by a stench from the building. The Ijede Police Division was alerted and dispatched a team to the house. When the door was forced open, the police saw the decomposing bodies of Edet, his second wife, his 17-year-old eldest son from his first wife, a teenage female relation, and three other children born by the second wife, aged seven, five and three years respectively.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide told newsmen: “At about 4.00pm, one Etim Edet, a staff of Nigeria Brewery Plc Lagos was allegedly found dead with his wife and five children on their beds at his residence at Bagido area of Ijede.

“No sign of violence was seen on their bodies. The deceased were suspected to have died from generator fumes.

“The decomposed corpses have been removed to Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

“The incident is under investigation at Ijede Division.”
