The National chairman of the Motor Mechanic and Technical Association of Nigeria (MOTECH), Ikeja Lagos branch, Mr. Lanre Shogbamimu, has appealed to government and corporate organisations to support them with diagnostic tools and garage equipment to enhance their work.
Shogbamimu said this yesterday at an event organised by Forte Oil (formerly African Petroleum, AP) tagged “Forte Oil Mechanic Village Storm” in the yard of First Gate Mechanic Village in Agidingbi, Ikeja. He said: “This mechanic village is one of the best mechanic villages in Ikeja for over 25 years now. With my 15 years experience in this work, I want to use this medium to solicit for support from the government and corporate organisations to upgrade this workshop with automotive tools such as scanner, diagnostic tools, etc, for us to be upgraded with the latest technology and be able to compete with our colleagues in the business.”
Shogbamimu also appealed to Forte Oil to assist mechanics by providing basic needs aside from engine oil. “The mechanic needs to check what is wrong with the cars, fix it before the engine oil. Cars need much more than the oil. No doubt, Forte Super Visco and Visco 2000 oil is superb but we need more,” he said.
Also at the event, the yard chairman, Mr. Ayodele Owoniyi, while speaking to News Express expressed gratitude to Forte Oil for coming to the workshop but at the same time needs the right tools to work to effectively do their work without any delay.
“We want this yard to be a standard workshop with latest technology to be able to give our best. We want to be update, we are willing to corporate with government or any firm that’s willing to assist us in terms of payment,” he said.
Owoniyi also appealed to customers to always be patient with the mechanic while working on their vehicles and urged his colleagues to believe in themselves and be neat at all times despite the nature of their work.
