Two days after he forced his Chief of Staff, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, to resign, President Goodluck Jonathan today applied the same measure to four ministers. They are Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah; her Niger Delta counterpart, Elder Godsday Orubebe; Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (rtd.) and Minister of State for Finance, Yerima Ngama.
Apart from Oduah, the three others are believed to have gubernatorial ambition – Olubolade in Ekiti, Orubebe in Delta and Ngama in Yobe State – as the nation counts down to the 2015 general elections.
Oduah, who has been embroiled in controversy over the purchase of two armoured BMW cars by her ministry at the cost of N255 million, is not known to have any political ambition. However, she played a key role in Jonathan’s campaign for the 2011 ballot and appears to have been dropped to enable her start work on his re-election plans.
