The Kano State House of Assembly has promised to pass the NotTooYoungToRun Bill. While assuring that Kano is a ‘YES’ state to the age reduction bill, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Atta, promised to mobilise other members to support the bill.
The Speaker also said he will invite the Not Too Young To Run team for a public hearing to present a position paper before the state constitutional amendment.
This was revealed by Kano State Coordinator of the Not Too Young To Run campaign, Maryam Usman, who visited the State House of Assembly last Tuesday.
Usman quoted the Speaker as advising the campaign to reach out to all the 36 state governors as some states have different understanding between the executives and legislators.
“The meeting, which also had the Majority Speaker, Chief Whip and some principal officers in attendance, saw the Speaker sign his acknowledgement and directed the Director Protocol to make sure the letters reach all members,” the Not Too Young To Run campaign organiosation said in a statement issued on Monday.
