President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, have started meeting over the latter’s allegations of insubordination and humiliation against the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru.
An online report by Daily Trust said Kachikwu “arrived the President’s office at 11:40 a.m.” on Friday for the meeting.
Kachikwu had in a leaked letter to Buhari alleged that Baru had repeatedly sidelined and disrespected the NNPC Board, which is chaired by the Minister of Sate.
The minister, the hot letter, had informed Buhari, who is the substantive Minister for Petroleum Resources, that against the rules, some over $25bn contracts were never reviewed or discussed with him or the board of NNPC.
