A dismissed Police Officer, Mr. Kenneth Chikwe, and 13 others have been paraded by the Anambra State Police Command for diverse offences ranging from car snatching, kidnapping and armed robbery to alleged stealing of a child.

Parading the suspects at the state Police Command in Awka, Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar, said that one of the suspects, Chikwe was arrested in Awka with bullet wounds after allegedly robbing two people of a Range Rover Sport with Lagos Registration Number MUS 644 BB, and a Hilux van with registration Number LND 685 FW.

Umar said that the arrest of Chikwe and his subsequent confession led to the arrest of his partner in crime, Mr. Uzohu Livingstone, 51 at Owerri in Imo State as well as the recovery of the two cars.

According to the CP, the two suspects gave useful information that helped in nabbing other gang members. However, the dismissed police officer later died.

While confirming that the boy was rescued in good health and reunited with his family, Umar said that seven other suspects were arrested for armed robbery and kidnapping after they stormed the residence of one Sylvester Arebun at Uromi in Edo State robbing him of a Honda Pilot Sport Utility Vehicle with registration Number AA 556 EM.

The CP added that the car was taken to Obosi spare parts market for sale when they ran out of luck.

Umar, however, assured members of the public that the command under his watch is on top of every security situation in the state saying: “My men are ever ready to match any criminal element in the state in our bid to maintain, secure and protect the lives and properties of good people of Anambra State.

“I use this opportunity to appeal to the public now that the governorship campaigns have commenced for the   November 18   elections to feel free and come up with any vital information that will be of great assistance to the command in the fight against crime and criminality and other misguided elements.”

Items recovered from the suspects according to the Police include, Range Rover, Hilux van, one AK 47 rifle, 20 rounds of ammunition, one pump action gun, one K2 Rifle with 15 rounds of live ammunition, one pump action with five cartridges and one locally made pistol.
