Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika, has expressed appreciation to the COAS, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai for the humanitarian assistance to his Ovim, Isuikwuato community in Abia State.
As part of the programme of Exercise EGWU EKE 11, (Python Dance) General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army, Major AB Abubakar, in line with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) directive, has flagged off an elaborate medical outreach in the area.
“I am increasingly happy with some of the achievements of the Nigerian Army under the current leadership. This kind of medical outreach is remarkable,” General Ihejirika stated.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday in Enugu by Deputy Director Public Relations, 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Colonel Sagir Musa, Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Namdi Udueze and traditional rulers of Ovim and adjoining villages as well as the former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Ihejirika and his wife, Nneka attended the event.
In his remarks at the occasion, the GOC thanked the people and the leaders of various communities that collectively, and in large numbers, graced the event.
“One interesting aspects of the exercise is the generous donation of rice, dental, optometry services, malaria and deworming tablets, eye glasses, treated mosquito nets to the locals among others.
“In addition to deworming tablets, school children were given packets of biscuits, chewing gum and chocolates,” Col. Musa stated.
