The Organisation of Nigerian Nationals (ONN) has condemned the military operations in the South-East of Nigeria, describing it as barbaric.
In a statement issued in Dallas, USA, President of the organisation, Michael Oseloke Umunna, pointed out that in what it tagged Operation Python Dance, the Nigerian military unleashed unwarranted attacks against members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at diverse settings in Eastern Nigeria.
He described as appalling, and outright preposterous “to imagine that a country that professes the practice of democratic principles would engage in a most demonic display of barbarism at this level. The images of dehumanisation that have been posted of this quagmire is disheartening, to say the least. We all might not support the notion of the agitation for the state of Biafra as an entity away from Nigeria, but as human beings, who are grounded in the fairness of humanity, the tenets of democracy, and the rule of law. We must condemn illegality in all its ramifications, regardless of where it is geographically located.
“The Organization of Nigerian Nationals (ONN) completely and unequivocally condemns this dastardly cannibalistic and unwarranted act of cowardice, and barbarism against IPOB members and asks that you join us to call for the immediate prevalence of legal action against the perpetrators.”
